There is a great new book, entitled “Motherhood, the Elephant in the Laboratory,” which was published recently by Cornell University Press. This book is essentially a collection of essays written by 34 women scientists, chronicling their trials and tribulations as moms in a male-dominated, often family-unfriendly, scientific work environment.
The creators of this book have their own website, aptly titled after their book, which is designed to serve as a forum for women (and men) in the sciences who are struggling with or may struggle with these issues.
Kudos to these brave women and Cornell University Press!
